Round table discussion dedicated to Human Rights Week in the Republic of Tajikistan

To discuss the achievements and the ways to further promote the rights and freedoms of people in Tajikistan on December 5th, as part of the celebration of Human Rights Week with the initiative of the Executive office of the President of Tajikistan and the Commissioner for Human Rights in Tajikistan a round table was organized.

This event was dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the 30th anniversary of Tajikistan’s accession to the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Representatives of state bodies, diplomatic corps based in Dushanbe, international and civil society organizations, scientific and educational institutions and mass media participated in this conference.

The participants expressed their opinions about the National Action Plan for the implementation of the recommendations of the UN Human Rights Council member-states following the procedures of the Periodic Universal Review (third round) for 2023-2026 years, the National Strategy of Tajikistan for the Protection of human rights for the period until 2038, implementation of the UN Conventions on the Rights of the Child and on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women in Tajikistan.

To further promote human rights and freedoms, ensure the international obligations of Tajikistan in the field of human rights, as well as to enhance the reputation of Tajikistan as a democratic and law-based state, it was decided that the expressed concluding proposals should be taken into account during the preparation of the annual Report of the Commissioner for Human Rights in Tajikistan.
